Program:

Emotional Maturity for Leaders

Program Overview:

*As leaders, when we deal/interact with people, we must understand that we are dealing with a whole person. There is a seen and unseen realm to this person and it shapes their activity, work life, and relational make-up.

“All emotions are, in essence, impulses to act, the instant plans for handling life that has been instilled in us.” - Daniel Coleman “Emotional Intelligence”

*The human mind is made up both an emotional realm and a rational realm. Both of these often work in unison with one another, though they are distinctively different. Both are used to process information that we receive via our Body (seen, senses), and then help lead us in our interactions within the world we find our self in.

Challenge #1:

~ How do we learn to identify emotions and then know whether we should react quickly or respond through process?

Challenge #2:

~ How do we then create an environment/culture where people are both emotionally engaged as well as rationally engaged?

The University of Southern Indiana's Veteran Military and Family Resource Center would like to invite you to an interesting and essential collaborative breakfast where organizations like yours are recognized for establishing internal veteran leadership teams that are utilized for the betterment of the business and community.

This quarterly meeting discusses how the organization's veteran team addresses teamwork, leadership and operational challenges.  We discuss best practices, lessons learned and collaborate on how to make these teams stronger in the everchanging workforce environment.

These teams provide a veteran V.O.I.C.E. not only in your organization, but in our community.

This month's guest speaker will be Mr. Steven Williams, Indiana State Chair for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).  Steve will tell us about the ESGR program, how it protects service members and serves organizations like yours.
